Why Mortgages?

I am often asked “why mortgages?” when there’s so many other career options. The truth is I didn’t go looking for this profession, the mortgage industry found me. This is my story.

Anything related to finances has always peaked my interest, be it raising capital for a business venture or creating a household budget. The more I talked to people the more apparent it became that money is something that we all have in common. We all use it and wish we had more of it. Furthermore I began to notice a pattern that people would take more time researching and comparing prices to save a few bucks on their LCD TV purchase than they would understanding their mortgage. We’ve all heard a home is the greatest asset a person will ever own. Let’s not forget that owning a home can also be the largest debt a person will ever have too. Thus obtaining the wrong mortgage could literally rob a family of thousands of dollars; money that could have been used for retirement planning, investments, or a children’s education fund. On the flip-side the right mortgage coupled with strategic planning could in fact bring the family significant financial freedom both here and now, and in the future. That is something I want to be a part of – helping others be financially secure. Thankfully the knowledge I have gained along the way can now be used to help others succeed too.
